The most important step a trainer must take in helping someone to achieve their health and fitness goals occurs well before the client lifts a single dumbbell or even laces up her sneakers. Careful and thorough preparation and assessing is often neglected and this is where clients often get lost, frustrated or injured. We combine an educational component (Biomechanics 101) to help the client understand her body and learn why she is asked to do a certain exercise. During our Discovery phase, we will learn about your lifestyle, current condition, mobility screening and injury/health appraisal. Using the Polar Tri Fit software, the most sophisticated wellness assessment technology available on the market, we will learn as much as possible about your physical profile and establish a baseline. (Ask about the Body Age Test.) With this critical information, the trainer is now fully armed with data that will allow him or her to carefully and progressively personalize a program for you. This approach will ensure safe and effective results that will keep you motivated.

What is Purposeful Training?
In most cases, individuals who work with a personal trainer are often focused on improving their appearance and ultimately, how they feel about themselves. This is very common and we are fully prepared to help our clients reach this goal. Focusing solely on vanity, however, would be a disservice to you. Along with helping you tone your body and shed unwanted body fat, our goal is to also, help you perform in your life better. Whether your day consists of lifting, sitting, bending, carrying children, reaching, twisting, climbing stairs, or playing sports, we will train your body to perform those tasks better. This is what we mean when we talk about purposeful training.

When you work with a trainer from The Center Studio, you won’t simply be placed on a weight training machine while your trainer stands next to you counting to ten. Your program will involve training techniques that require more thought, preparation and focus from both your trainer yourself. A bit unconventional, your exercise plan will likely include exercises that are used in sports training- drills that require you to challenge your mid section, balance and coordination. This type of training will not only prepare you better for what you encounter in your daily life, but actually will produce more muscle recruitment and ultimately a greater calorie burn.
